An oversimplistic approach to the explanation of a phenomenon, which excludes complicating factors; reductionism. Cf.

I have no idea what happened yesterday. It was only after I posted that I noticed that the word was the same as the day before. I thought that I was going crazy when I drew, but it looks like my record keeping is not very good.

If I draw three pictures, my second one usually comes out the best, then the last one will be all kinds of awkward. Not entirely sure why this happens, but I think I can work around this.
