Since I don’t have any willing volunteers to model for me, I spent most of the weekend playing Red Dead Redemption and GTA V trying to study clothing and shapes with drawing in mind. My mum and grandfather were fairly involved in the textile industry, so clothing design has been something that I grew up learning about. What is interesting is to study historical clothing making tools so that I draw articles of clothing that are possible with the technology that I am trying to write for and still have it functional.

I learned lots about the history of hair pins, which we all take for granted, but have been an important part of fashion and culture. Without giving too much away, I want to say that it is really neat to learn how technology has affected how people feel about dressing and presenting themselves.
